Each year, SAARA hosts the Voices for Recovery Luncheon & Awards to honor and uplift the people and organizations who are making a real, measurable difference in the recovery community across Virginia. This gathering is about more than just coming together for a meal—it is a moment to publicly recognize the advocates, peers, providers, families, and community partners whose dedication, compassion, and leadership save lives and strengthen communities every single day. By celebrating their work, we not only express our gratitude but also help elevate recovery as something worthy of pride, visibility, and continued investment.

We are excited to gather with you on May 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to celebrate these changemakers.

2026 Peer of the Year Voting

Each year, SAARA of Virginia’s Peer of the Year Award recognizes a peer recovery specialist who has gone above and beyond to support individuals, families, and communities on the path to recovery. Peers play a vital role in offering hope, connection, and lived experience to those navigating recovery, and we are proud to celebrate their impact across the Commonwealth.

This year, we received an incredible number of heartfelt nominations from across Virginia. After careful consideration, we have narrowed the field to 10 outstanding finalists who represent the compassion, dedication, and leadership that define peer recovery support.

We also want to recognize all peer recovery specialists across Virginia who show up every day to walk alongside others in recovery. Your work strengthens communities and changes lives.

Voting for the 2026 Peer of the Year Award is open March 17 through April 17.
Please take a moment to review the nominees below and vote for the peer you believe best embodies the spirit of recovery and peer support.
