SAARA joins the Virginia Department of Health Comprehensive Harm Reduction Partner (CHRPP) Program to distribute free Naloxone.

Richmond, Virginia 09/17/21 SAARA of Virginia joins the Virginia Department of Health's (VDH) Division of Disease Prevention (DDP) Comprehensive Harm Reduction Partner Program (CHRPP). This program allows for-profit and non-profit businesses to be approved to receive free Naloxone (Narcan) from VDH. Naloxone distributed through this program is a nasal spray, which is easy to administer.

"With rising opioid-related overdose rates exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, it's more critical than ever that we equip individuals and communities with the tools that save lives. Providing free Naloxone and education directly to individuals who take opioids or to their significant others is a crucial first step," said executive director Victor McKenzie Jr.

SAARA of Virginia also conducts monthly REVIVE trainings, a course that teaches people how to respond to an opioid overdose and administer Naloxone.
