Federal Legislation

 

Federal legislation and policies can have a major impact on resources available to support treatment and recovery resources.

 

NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, represents the professional interests of more than 100,000 addiction counselors, educators, and other addiction-focused health care professionals in the United States and abroad. Check out their website at www.naadac.org to learn more. Their "Take Action" segment on the advocacy section of their website focuses on current federal legislation that you can take action on today. Current Federal Legislation that SAARA of Virginia supports Includes:

  • Supporting the Strengthening the Addiction Treatment Workforce Act

  • Supporting the Medicaid Coverage for Addiction Recovery Expansion Act

  • Supporting the Improving Access to Behavioral Health Information Technology Act

  • Supporting full funding for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA)

SAARA is an affiliate member of Facing Addiction with NCADD (The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence). Our priorities align with their advocacy and action agenda, which can be found HERE. Below are their legislative agenda action items.
