Alive RVA Warmline Peer Support Specialist

SAARA of Virginia is seeking a qualified professional for a full-time position. The qualified person will share his/her lived experience of recovery and provide support to people with co-occurring health issues.


The Peer Support Specialist will provide emotional, informational, instrumental, and affiliational support to individuals both in the community and in an Emergency Department setting in the metro Richmond area.  The Peer Support Specialist will assist in the ongoing operation of a Warm Line Project, which offers telephonic recovery support and resources to individuals in the Commonwealth. This position will also require assisting in research around recovery resources.

Applicants must possess good oral, written, and computer skills.  Must participate with regional partners at team meetings, prepare reports, and be responsible for data collection.


  • Applicant must be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

  • Must possess a High School Diploma/GED

  • Must have 3 years or more in recovery

  • Must have experience using a call center style system (experience dealing with multiple calls throughout the shift and documenting all calls correctly into the RED CAP system)

  • Must be able to complete follow up calls during each shift

  • Must be able to disseminate information regarding multiple pathways to recovery

  • Must have reliable internet

  • The ideal candidate must have lived experience and a strong foundation in their own recovery.


Hourly rate:

Commensurate with experience and training.
