SAARA of Virginia is Joining the Global Giving Tuesday Movement to advocate, educate, and support those with Substance Use Disorder (SUD), their families, and their communities.

Richmond Virginia, 11/4/2020 – The Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance of Virginia (SAARA) is responding to meet the needs of individuals and families affected by substance use disorder and addiction by launching its GivingTuesday Campaign.

GivingTuesday, taking place on December 1st, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 through our GivingTuesday campaign efforts. These donations will help SAARA in our mission to end the stigma surrounding addiction and make recovery more accessible for everyone struggling with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) in Virginia. SAARA focuses on advocating for real policy change geared toward access to recovery, educating the recovery community with our Peer Recovery Specialists, and supporting SUD affected with our recovery programs.

“Over half a million adults have a substance use disorder in Virginia. Many go untreated due to a lack of access to resources or fear of seeking those resources due to the stigmatization of addiction, we’re working to change that”
